Assistant Professor in Applied Sciences
What area does your research focus on?
My research covers the following key themes: Regulation of forensic DNA & biometric databases; persistence of body fluids; forensic vLabs; and development and evaluation of crime reduction initiatives and tools. My research in forensic science policy has led to the development of flexible regulatory models in Scotland, across the UK, and in New Zealand.
What are the other key aspects of your role?
I am the Programme Leader for the MSc Forensic Science course at Northumbria University. I am also Module Lead and Tutor on several Forensic Science UG and PG modules, providing lectures and practical sessions in forensic biology, forensic genetics, and police investigation. Other key aspects of my role include supervision of UG, PG and Doctoral research projects. I am also the University Quality Lead for the accreditation of the forensic science courses at Northumbria University to the CSFS component standards.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy cooking, dancing, and photography.
