The Pro:NE mentoring strand supports the professional and personal development of racially minoritised ethnic students. We support Ph.D. candidates by facilitating institutional knowledge, building resiliency, and fostering leadership. We are developing a cross-institutional partnership with 5 Higher Education partners in the North East of England. Our mentoring scheme uses a peer and reciprocal mentoring system for racially minoritised early career students and staff. Our mentoring scheme acts as both a safe space (by increasing spaces of belonging and inclusion) and a networking opportunity. The goal of our programme is to improve systemic processes for racially minoritised students, as well as increase wellbeing, satisfaction, and leadership.
