Prof. Candy Rowe
Professor of Animal Behaviour and Cognition
What area does your research focus on?
Animal behaviour and welfare.
What are the other key aspects of your role?
As well as doing research, I am the University’s Dean for Research Culture and Strategy, which involves supporting career development and promoting positive research environments to work in.
What do you like to do outside of work?
You’ll find me on my allotment, standing on the side of a football pitch, or on the sofa watching Netflix or reading a book.
What do you think you could particularly offer mentoring support with?
I have a lot of mentoring experience, often around career development questions and how to make the next step into an academic or research related career. This can pull in a range of different areas, including work-life balance, developing a research profile, raising visibility, building relationships and networks, and finding funding or research jobs.
