Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences
What area does your research focus on?
My research has focused mainly on homelessness and poverty. However, I have recently been involved in writing about other areas such as policing and the experiences of cancer patients. I have written two textbooks on research methods and enjoy discussing all aspects of quantitative and qualitative methodology.
What are the other key aspects of your role?
I have been a programme leader on the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship for the last four years. Prior to this, I was the Departmental lead for PGR students.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I am part of the Church of England and Claremont Road Runners. I also enjoy walking Bailey (the street dog we adopted from North Macedonia), spending time with my grandchildren and watching Northern League football.
What do you think you could particularly offer mentoring support with?
- The moments of despair in completing a PGR qualification – I have been through them and so have all the people I have supervised!
- Research methods
- Finding the unique contribution that a PGR project can make
