What area does your research focus on?

Climate change, climate reconstructions, impact of climate on civilisations, environmental pollution. 

What are the other key aspects of your role?

I am the Director of Education for my department and I teach on several different modules at undergraduate and MSc level. I am a panel member on the OnePlanet Doctoral Training partnership which coordinates student admissions for Newcastle and Northumbria Universities’ PhD programmes. I supervise student research projects, for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.  

What do you like to do outside of work?

Cycling, hiking, gym, cooking, spending time with my family.  

What do you think you could particularly offer mentoring support with?

• I worked or studied in several countries in Europe and also in the USA, and I have broad experience working with students from very diverse backgrounds. Therefore, I can advise on what makes a successful student/professional in a wide variety of contexts. 
• Adapting to the UK educational system if you are an international student. 
• Planning a career in academia.
• Identifying meaningful research impacts.
